Strategy Books on Blackjack
The only game where a player can actually beat the house long term is Blackjack. There are plenty of books available on and offline but they do not reveal everything and in general will not help. The only sure fire way to win in the long term is by counting cards that remain in the deck.
Because most (If not all) books do not reveal the real techniques, most players will lose and the players that do know how to use the system are so few in numbers that they do not matter compared to the profits gained from the players that lost. In order to increase the chances of winning, keeping track of the cards is a must. This can be done by keeping track on what cards remain, or by keeping track on what cards are already out of the deck. This is called card counting, so in case you stumble on books or articles on winning at blackjack and there is no mention of counting cards, you can be sure that the method described will not work and you will lose money. In other words any system for playing Blackjack must include counting cards to be effective.
All methods for winning at playing Blackjack are geared to winning long term. Which means calculations must be made during and after several games in order to establish a pattern by counting cards. From the results we can deduce which cards may fall next, and from this making calculated bets become possible. Most books on playing Blackjack cover this area fairly well, and you can find several formulas for calculating the odds.
All the above is highly theoretical. On average a player will never play the amount of games required to gain the necessary data. Whether they are experienced players or amateurs playing their hand, all have lost and won playing Blackjack, and even the most experienced gambler will lose. There is no sure fire way that guarantees a win every time. In order to get the data required to make any realistic calculations on playing the game, playing millions of games would be required. The only way to even come close to real live statistics on the game is running simulations on a computer.
The only book recommended on strategies for playing Blackjack would be "Beat the Dealer", that was written by Edward Thorp. New techniques won't be found in this work, but it gives a detailed explanation of most existing ones.
